Absolutely worth it. The fast-track entry saved us a long wait and the state rooms are staggering — gilded ceilings, frescoes and the throne room are the highlights

Far bigger than expected. Give yourself at least two hours and don't skip the armoury or the gardens — the views over the city from the upper levels are lovely

Booked the night before and walked straight in. The rooms are beautifully kept and there's genuinely a lot to see. Comfortable shoes are a good idea
Things to Know Before Booking

What Your Ticket Includes

Fast-track admission to the Royal Palace of Madrid, access to the Royal Gardens and a downloadable booklet about the royal palaces in and around Madrid. It does not include a guided tour, access to the Royal Kitchen, hotel transfers or food and drink.

Age Recommendations

Suitable for all ages. Reduced rates apply to children aged 5–16, students up to 25 and visitors aged 65+, all with valid ID.

Best Time to Attend

Mornings just after opening and late afternoons are usually the quietest. Arrive 15–20 minutes before your entry time and allow 1.5–3 hours for the palace and gardens.

Facilities

Large bags, luggage and potentially dangerous items are not permitted inside, and security checks apply at the entrance. Wear comfortable footwear — the palace complex is extensive — and check the forecast if you plan to walk the gardens.

Accessibility

The venue is wheelchair accessible and manual wheelchairs are available to hire, subject to availability. Certain rooms may close temporarily for official events or maintenance, and photography restrictions apply in some rooms.

Why You Should Visit
The Crown Room and Royal Armoury
Gilded Ceremonial Halls
The Royal Dining Room
The Royal Gardens
How Long Do You Need?

Most visitors spend 1.5 to 3 hours here — enough for the state rooms, the Crown Room, the Royal Armoury and the Royal Gardens. With more than 3,000 rooms, this is the largest royal palace in Western Europe, so it rewards a slower pace.

The palace is open daily from 9:30 AM to 8:30 PM. Arrive 15–20 minutes before your entry time and allow a little extra if you plan to walk the gardens.

How to get there
